If you are planning to celebrate Easter in delightful Orlando, I commend your choice. This year, Easter Sunday lands on the first day of April and, no foolin', there are plenty of events, services, festivals and ways to celebrate the holiday.
What is an Easter celebration without a delicious spread? There are so many wonderful restaurants to choose from. Too many to list here, but let me suggest heading to Restaurant Row along Sandlake Road, not far from your villa, which offers more than two dozen upscale and casual restaurants. From well-known chain establishments to smaller, more intimate venues, Restaurant Row has something for every palate and most will offer special menus for your family's Easter celebration.
Shop and Hop
Combine your souvenir shopping with a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny. Two of our area's largest malls host this very bunny event. The Florida Mall will offer Easter Bunny Photos at Center Court near the Dining Pavilion. You can reserve your hop op online for a photo with The Fluffy One ahead of time. Reservations are available from March 9–31.
From March 10–31, kids of all ages can meet The Bunny (and get a complimentary gift) at The Mall at Millenia, located only about half an hour drive from your luxury vacation villa. Here, you can take your own photos or opt for a professional photo package.
Another Easter weekend option is to take advantage of the festivals still going on at the major theme parks.
Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival
Epcot's springtime festival features garden spaces, wildlife habitats, exhibits and demonstrations. Dine around the world and rock out to the Garden Rocks concert series. Through May 28.
Mardi Gras at Universal Studios Florida
Experience the sights, sounds and tastes of the Big Easy's big party. Enjoy a nightly parade, authentic Cajun cooking, live concerts, a re-creation of New Orleans French Quarter and plenty of beads. Through April 7.
Seven Seas Food Festival at SeaWorld Orlando
Dine on a wide array of dishes from around the world and sip craft beer and other creative beverages at this food-focused festival. This event also offers live performances from top names in music and, of course, your favorite marine mammals. Through April 15.
A Conventional Celebration
For a more traditional Easter Sunday, there are many churches and places of worship in the Kissimmee area. Also, both SeaWorld Orlando and Bok Tower Gardens (about an hour's drive from your vacation villa) offer a Sunrise Easter Service on Easter Sunday morning. And Bok Tower Gardens, a national historic landmark, is a lovely place for the family to spend the day after the service. Admission to both events is free.
Springtime in Central Florida is egg-stra special during the Easter and spring break holidays. We welcome you and your family with open arms and warm sunshine. See you soon!
