Nothing heralds the arrival of spring quite like fresh blooms, outdoor dining and live music under an open sky. Treat yourself and your family to a special Spring ‘18 at the annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.
Blooms: Fragrant and Vivid
Surround yourselves with the beautiful sights and sounds of nature as you stroll through breathtaking plant and wildlife habitats. There is a floral paradise for every member of the family – from floating mini-gardens to Bonsai trees, to this year’s new exhibit the Tropical Rainforest Garden. Each one is unique and fascinating. Highlights include: the Shakespeare Garden at the United Kingdom Pavilion where you can match up famous quotes to flowers. The Bard of Avon often used flowers and exotic gardens to help set the scenes for his plays and employed them as symbols and metaphors.
Another don’t-miss is The Goodness Garden Butterfly House–Presented by GoGo squeeZ. Experience this foliage-filled exhibit at Future World West to observe butterflies up-close, learning about their life cycles and maybe even witness them emerging from chrysalises. And your kids will love seeing their favorite Disney characters come to verdant life. Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Winnie the Pooh, Stitch, Lady and the Tramp, Simba and his friends, and many more are all there in topiary form.
Food, Glorious Food
This year’s Outdoor Kitchens at the World Showcase feature creative cuisine and fresh, vibrant ingredients. They are open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM and each one offers a specialty menu of inventive dishes and libations. German, French, Mexican, American, Chinese, you name it, you’ll find it at one of the pavillions. If you want to feel summertime this spring, hit La Isla Fresca to nibble on Caribbean-seasoned dishes with a Calypso vibe and Florida Fresh—our own Sunshine State station—where you’ll enjoy local sweet ‘n’ tangy treats.
For those of you who need it, you will find that special menu items are marked with (GF) for gluten-free and those with (V) are for vegetarians. The dishes are too numerous to list but you can visit this link to get details on each delicious one.
Garden Rocks Concert Series
And this brings us to the music. What compliments fantastic food and beautiful spring weather like live outdoor music? Nothing. That’s it. The perfect trifecta. And wait till you see the lineup! For those of you who love to rock out to the classics: ELO, Foghat and Herman’s Hermits. Starship, Survivor and The Little River Band and, husbands...hold on to your wives...long-time lady killer, Rick Springfield. There is also The Spinners and the Guess Who, among others. Maybe you were too busy stuffing your gullet and missed the matinee. Well, you are in luck. There are several showtimes conveniently spaced for you and your family to enjoy everything this awesome festival has to offer: 5:30 PM, 6:45 PM and 8:00 PM.
