Celebrating 23 years, the 2018 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is going on now through the 12th of November and your Epcot admission - along with your hearty appetite - is all you need to engage in this deliciously popular event. So, strap on your walking shoes (and elasticized-waist pants) and get ready to eat, drink and be merry.
New additions in 2018 include Sunday Brunch with the Chef where you begin your day with a brunch buffet followed by a conversation with a distinguished, culinary television personality. A Junior Chef Kitchen where the youngest chefs can learn and create culinary works of art like candy sushi under the guidance of a Disney Chef. And Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It! Seminars where you learn how to prepare both trendy and classic cocktails from a professional mixologist. There are also Cheese Seminars, Beverage Seminars and Culinary Demonstrations held at the Festival Center where you and your family have the chance to learn culinary skills from chefs, bakers and mixologists.
There are several new dishes this year like New Brunswick Sliders, Butternut Squash Ravioli with Brown Butter Vinaigrette and Charred Chimichurri Skirt Steak just to name a few. And if that's not enough to make your mouth water, Party for the Senses – the elegant, dance-filled event that offers a new theme every week – is back with more than 50 gourmet tasting stations including champagne, wine craft beer and cocktails paired with delectable food.
Disney Du Jour Dance Party
One of several new family-friendly offerings, this dance party happens at the Fountain View Stage on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the Festival. It features great music, interactive dances and activities for kids of all ages. A different pairing of Disney characters will stop by each weekend, so you may see your favorites from Disney•Pixar's Ratatouille and Zootopia, or even Lilo and Stitch, Chip ‘n Dale or, for you oldtimers, Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar. Plus, every DDJ Dance Party is highlighted by a special concert appearance by an up-and-coming artist from Radio Disney.
Eat to the Beat Concert Series
When you want to combine remarkable meals with sensational music, choose a dining package that will guarantee you reserved seating for the concerts.
Here is a shortlist of some of the exciting artists who will take the stage in October (and through the end of the Festival), loosely broken down into categories:
- Alternative Rock - Everclear and Smash Mouth
- Oldies - Air Supply and Starship featuring Mickey Thomas
- 80s and 90s - Billy Ocean, Taylor Dayne, Hanson, 98 Degrees, The Hooters and Boyz II Men
- Country and Southern Rock - Mark Wills, Anderson East and High Valley
- .38 Special - I'd lump them in with the previous category but this band stands alone...if you've never seen .38 Special live, there is no time like the present. They ROCK.
And on the final 3 nights of the Festival, they're going out with a bang with contemporary swing kings Big Bad Voodoo Daddy so the whole family can jitterbug off the 10,000 calories you all ingested earlier that day. How thoughtful.
If you are visiting the Orlando area before November 12th, this is one food fest you and your family won't want to miss. See here for full information and to make reservations. Enjoy!
