A Merry Orlando Christmas

Celebrate the holidays in Central Florida with this compilation of events including several options at low cost or included with theme-park admission. Note: If your family likes to eat, you're going to like this list. You may even check it twice.

Celebrate Off the Beaten Path

Let's start with the roads less taken. If you and your family want to enjoy the great Florida winter outdoors and would like to connect Christmas with nature, here are a few suggestions.

Christmas at Bok Tower Gardens

Bok Tower Gardens, which is approximately 30 minutes from your luxury vacation villa, offers an annual Holiday Home Tour at Pinewood Estate plus carillon concerts, garden tours and poinsettia displays.

Light Up UCF

Back for its tenth season, Light Up UCF (University of Central Florida) is one of Orlando's most anticipated holiday attractions. It offers families an affordable winter wonderland featuring ice skating, rides, snowy nights, holiday attractions and photo ops with Santa. Light Up UCF will run through December 31.

Now, on to our world-famous theme park events. Note that most specialty events require a paid entry ticket in addition to regular park admission.

Legoland Florida Resort

Christmas Bricktacular

Great name, right? Legoland Florida's holiday festivities include a 30-foot Christmas tree made with Lego and Duplo blocks, a holiday-themed scavenger hunt for kids, building activities with Master Model Builders and character meet-and-greets. Select days through Christmas day.

SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld also gets in on the fun with their Christmas Celebration including the magical "Sea of Trees" and special performances. Kids will also have the chance to meet Santa Claus.

Dinner With Rudolph Dine with Santa's favorite reindeer! A real memory-maker. Venison is not on the menu. Runs through December 31.

Walt Disney World

Epcot International Festival of the Holidays

Through December 30, Epcot will feature 15 Holiday Kitchens serving seasonal sweets. The festivities also include the "Candlelight Processional," the "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth" fireworks show and live musical performances.

Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! Holiday Dessert

Coinciding with Hollywood Studios' seasonal celebration, this party will feature holiday desserts, snacks and beverages, plus a VIP Disney character meet-and-greet and special view for evening shows.

Fireworks Holiday Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace

Held at the Magic Kingdom, this party includes exclusive desserts and a fantastic view of the park's holiday fireworks.

Universal Orlando

Universal's Holiday Parade Featuring Macy's

I love Macy's. Which has nothing to do with anything. Just saying. Join Santa Claus, the Minions and characters from Madagascar and Shrek for this long-running holiday parade. Through January 6. Also included are live performances by the awesome Mannheim Steamroller, who will perform their holiday hits on select days through December 17.

This event is so popular, we recently dedicated an entire blog to it. The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular at Seuss Landing at Universal's Islands of Adventure transforms into the world of Grinchmas. And who (pardon the pun) better to enjoy a meal with than the old scrooge himself. The Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast is held at the Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous on select mornings through December 25.

Whatever you decide to do, make this an unforgettable holiday for you and your family. Happy Holidays!
