Orlando is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations, mostly for our world-class theme parks and attractions. But our downtown area is a clean, beautiful hotspot for great restaurants, nightlife and museums, and is only about a half an hour's drive from your luxury villa. Whether or not you are a cityslicker, experiencing downtown Orlando is a fantastic way to spend a laidback and memorable vacation day with the family.

CityArts Factory

Highlighting international as well as local works that are rotated each month, this large collective of galleries is located in the heart of downtown. Not a lot of shops in this area, but plenty of restaurants and bars to enjoy nearby. Also near beautiful Lake Eola for a lovely stroll. Open Tuesday – Saturday.

Cornell Fine Arts Museum

Situated on the beautiful Rollins College campus, this museum offers free admission. There is also a collection of art displayed at the nearby Alfond Inn which is open to the public. It's a hop, skip and a jump from Park Avenue so you can make it a day of culture, shopping and dining. Open Tuesday – Sunday.

Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art

This museum is renowned for its comprehensive collection of Louis Comfort Tiffany Glass. It is also home to a major collection of American art pottery, fine collections of late-19th- and early-20th-century American paintings, and more. Located directly on shopping mecca, Park Avenue in Winter Park, you can combine this cultural outing with great shopping and fine dining. Open Tuesday – Sunday.

Orlando Science Center

The Orlando Science Center is an educational and entertaining place—and a wonderful break from theme parks—for the kids to go and explore. Offering four floors of exciting exhibits, engaging live programming and movies, the Science Center is the perfect family destination, rain or shine. Positioned pretty much between downtown and Winter Park, you'll be able to choose from hundreds of restaurants nearby to complete your downtown Orlando day. Open daily except Wednesdays (only 1st Wednesday of the month).

Amway Center

We Orlandoans love our Magic, and Amway Center, located smack dab in the center of the city, is home to our NBA and ECHL (the Solar Bears) teams. Whether they are your favorite teams, or they are playing yours when you are here, it's a very exciting night of lights, music and action. You haven't experienced basketball until you've seen our beloved mascot, Stuff, strut his! Also, most of our major concert and holiday events take place in this acoustically fine arena. Check the listings and see if your favorite team or artist will be in town the same time you are.

Downtown Dining

There are literally countless restaurants, bars and clubs where you and the family can eat, drink and dance. From the finest repasts to the quickest bites, there is something for everyone right in our beautiful downtown area. After your meal, join the locals for a walk around our iconic Lake Eola and enjoy the year-round fantastic Florida weather.
