From Soup to Nuts

There are 11 countries represented at Walt Disney World Resort's Epcot Theme Park. Not only do you and your loved ones get to traverse the world in a day, learning customs and cultures of each magnificent land, but you get to experience the cuisine of each as well. No matter how picky the most finicky eater in your family is, there will be dishes that everyone will love, literally from soup to nuts. With the small fortune you save by visiting your favorite "country" at Epcot, rather than traveling abroad, you can afford to taste your way, gastronomically speaking, around the world.

Of course if you are visiting Florida from any of these 11 countries, you can get a taste of your own culture, not only with your favorite local dishes, but the staff in each of the countries come from that country as well. Why not converse in your native tongue? That's one of my favorite parts of visiting Epcotspeaking other languages. In fact, I can butcher French and Norwegian rather fluently!

For Starters

So, let's start at the beginning. Epcot's World Showcase is centered around a beautiful reflective lagoon and is one of the more relaxing and scenic areas of Disney World. You won't find thrill rides but there are several movies, boat rides and informative shows that will give you an overview of the country you're in.

Once you've digested cultural information about the countries, you may start to get peckish. This is a good time to decide to eat in a certain countryor enjoy a starter in one area, main course in another and finish off with dessert and coffee someplace entirely different. That is a great way to really experience the beauty of Epcot's world-wide cuisine.

Sharing is Caring

Personally, I love discovering my next, new favorite dish. And dining in different cultures is a great way to try something new as each country offers authentic dishes. From soup, sushi and steak, to quiche, croissant and churros, there are more than enough choices to please even the pickiest eater in your family.

And it is not just sit-down restaurants, oh no! If you don't want to eat your way around the world, snack your way across the globe. Epcot offers a plethora of smaller food stands where you can do more of a grab-a-bite-and-go while still getting a good idea of the country's most interesting specialties. Sharing your dishes goes a long way as well, so everyone can get a taste of something new and unique.

Dining at the World Showcase is not to be missed. From Mexico to Morocco, most countries have both table and counter-serve restaurants. It's a wonderful chance to introduce your loved ones to new cultures and cuisines. While it is quick and convenient to stop by a smaller food stand, it is strongly recommended that you make an advance dining reservation for the table serve venues. Eat and enjoy!
