July Events in Orlando

July is a booming (that’s an Independence Day pun) month in Central Florida. Visitors from around the globe descend upon Orlando International Airport (MCO) and scatter around the area for adventure, relaxation, family fun and to experience our world-class theme parks. Last July, MCO welcomed 4.2 million passengers in the month of July alone! So this is a great month to meet and make new friends. It also means that the parks will be extremely crowded so here is a short list of interesting things to do outside the jam-packed parks.

I’ll start with a list of a few places that offer indoor (read: air conditioning) family entertainment: Orlando Science Center, Andretti Indoor Karting & Games,
I Drive NASCAR (karting), SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, The Crayola Experience, Monkey Joe’s (for smaller children)

Cars and More

Why not spend the long sweltering day at your luxury vacation villa playing games, relaxing and swimming to beat the heat? Finish that novel by your private sparkling pool, challenge the kids to a refreshing game of Marco Polo. Take a well-deserved siesta. The only crowd you’ll encounter at your private villa is your extended family hanging out snacking in your fully equipped kitchen.

In the evening, when it has cooled down, head over to Old Town in Kissimmee (only about a 10-mile drive from your villa) for the Muscle Car Show and Cruise on Friday nights. Enjoy show-quality muscle and factory-performance cars from 1964 and newer and classics from 1983 and older. On Saturdays, check out one of America’s longest-running weekly car shows, the Saturday Nite Car Cruise. Here you’ll see show-quality 1983 and older hot rods, street rods, and antiques. It’s a don’t-miss for any car enthusiast. Plus, there are plenty of restaurants and shops to experience while you’re there.

The Mixtape Tour

When I first saw that New Kids On The Block was playing at the Amway Center in downtown Orlando (with its 20,000 seat capacity), I asked myself, “How is NKOTB playing a large arena venue in 2019? Well, because they are joined by 80s superstars Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty By Nature, Tiffany, and Debbie Gibson. That’s how. If you and your family are going to be in Central Florida on Saturday, July 13, get your tickets right now for this like, totally awesome goldmine of blazing 80s hits. Don your old parachute pants and tease those bangs sky-high, and I’ll see you there!

Get Your Kicks

Got a budding soccer star in the family? Send them to the Real Madrid (Si, the real Real Madrid!) Soccer Camp for a few days. Your little Ronaldo or Rapinoe will hone their soccer skills under the tutelage of expert UEA coaches from Madrid. It’s a day camp from Monday, July 29 thru Friday, August 2. This also gives you and the Mrs. alone time to enjoy the adult side of The City Beautiful.
