What’s New in Orlando in 2020

Being the Entertainment Capital of the World is an enormous title to live up to. Heavy is the head that wears the crown and we cannot rest on our entertainment laurels. So, each year in Orlando, new restaurants, events, parties, attractions and the like open up to thrill visitors and keep them coming. So whether you and your family are coming to partake in our world-class theme parks, dining establishments and outdoor adventures or simply to relax in your luxury vacation villa and recharge, here is a look at a few new things to enjoy this year.
ICON Park on International Drive
Ole Red Orlando
Like Southern cooking and hospitality? How about country music? If your answer is yes, head to Blake Shelton’s Ole Red Orlando restaurant a 15,000 square-foot, 2-level eatery. Ole Red gets its name from Shelton’s breakout hit, “Ol’ Red”, and they say that being there, “Is a lot like hanging out with the guy himself: laid-back and genuine, up for anything, a bit irreverent (but always fun)—and set to great music.” Set to open this April.
Ox Grill
Pretty much the polar opposite of Shelton’s Ole Red Orlando, Ox Grill (it opened late last year but is worth mentioning) offers global and world (Puerto Rican, Brazilian, French, you name it) cuisine. It was birthed by an innovative collaboration between a local entrepreneur and veteran Orlando restaurateur, and offers great service, a charming atmosphere and flavorful dishes that combine to make a memorable fine dining experience.
Disney Springs
Cirque du Soleil: Drawn to Life
This all-new production is a collaboration between Cirque du Soleil, Walt Disney Animation Studios and the ever-brilliant Walt Disney Imagineers. Drawn to Life is the story of a courageous girl who discovers an unfinished animation piece left by her late father. Follow her as she embarks on an adventure filled with Disney memories from her childhood. Wow, I could have written this myself! Through this journey, she learns to imagine new possibilities and animate the story of her future. Previews begin on March 20, with the official premiere set for April 17.
Aquatica Orlando
Ready? Set? Race! There’s a brand new dueling water slide coming to Aquatica Orlando that is set to debut this spring. Riptide Race will have you racing through tunnels at high speeds as you see your opponents both side-by-side and face-to-face! This ride will take you indoors and out from a 68-foot tower and almost 650 feet of exhilarating slide. Riptide Race is Florida’s first dueling racer adventure and is said to offer a ride experience you get anywhere else.
International Drive (I-Drive) and the other venues mentioned here are all located near your Central Florida luxury vacation villa. When your day is done and on the days when you and your family just want to relax and unwind together, enjoy your spacious villa. Prepare a meal in your fully equipped kitchen. Eat in a lovely dining area or outside by your private swimming pool. Take a long walk then head home for movie night on your large TV.
