New to Theme Parks in 2019 Part 2
It seems 2019 is going to be a great year to visit Orlando. Whether you’ve been to the city and our world-class theme parks, or this will be your family’s first visit, you are in for a treat. Even us locals are excited about all the new additions in and around the Entertainment Capital of the World.
Jaleo Restaurant at Disney Springs
Sure, you’ve eaten an artichoke, but have you ever eaten IN one? This year, you can. Jaleo, a new modern Spanish restaurant chain is building a giant artichoke at Disney Springs. The restaurant is, “inspired by an artichoke, a vegetable native to the homeland of (resident chef) José Andrés. An avant-garde, expressionist and welcoming architecture.” The structure lacks solid walls and is completely open to the outside, offering beautiful views of the lake. It’s perfect for family-style dining that invites you to share tapas, paellas and sangria. My curiosity is peaked.
Sesame Street Land – SeaWorld Orlando
Big Bird fan? This new land centered around Sesame Street and all of its beloved characters features six family attractions, daily parades, new shops and dining options. Elmo and friends finally arrive at SeaWorld Orlando in 2019.
And speaking of little Elmo…
SeaWorld is the place to be for Elmo’s Birthday Celebration, featuring an interactive DJ dance party, fun party games and some surprise visitors. Don’t miss this weekend-long party for Elmo. Elmo’s Birthday Weekend: February 2 – 3. If you are planning your visit this particular weekend, reserve your SeaWorld tickets to enjoy the party of the year!
Kare Kare Curl – Aquatica Orlando
Experience the feeling of weightlessness aboard Aquatica’s new thrill ride opening this year! Kare Kare Curl will send two-passenger rafts down a fast drop into a halfpipe-like sequence that races riders up a zero-gravity wall and back down again. This one is for the high-adrenaline thrillseekers in your family.
Lego Movie World – Legoland Florida
This new land will be based on the Lego Movie with 3 new attractions including a flying theater ride called The Lego Movie: Masters of Flight which incorporates the triple-decker flying couch from the film and takes you on a virtual adventure through Bricksburg, where your kids will interact with characters. There is also a drop ride and a new water attraction based on Lego movie characters and scenes, plus new dining venues and character meet n’ greets. This new world is set to open in early Spring.
Tigris – Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (BGTB)
I would be remiss if I did not include the newest adventure at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Cat-lovers take note: BGTB brings a new level of excitement with Florida’s tallest launch roller coaster! Tigris catapults you back and forth through looping twists, heart-pounding drops, an inverted heartline roll, and a 150-foot skyward surge…all at more than 60 miles per hour. Race along 1,800 feet of steel that was designed to mimic the agility of a tiger! Set to open this spring. It’s a rip-ROARing good time!
