Florida Strawberry Festival (Plant City) – Late February through early March

This famous Florida Strawberry Festival is an 11-day community event celebrating the local strawberry harvest. Experience rides, shows, exhibits of commerce and the star of the festival: sweet and juicy strawberries. Plus, enjoy world-class live music. Past performers include The Oak Ridge Boys, Loretta Lynn, Boyz II Men, Demi Lovato and Willie Nelson. The Florida Strawberry Festival is considered one of the top festivals in the country by the International Association of Fairs and Expositions as well as by more than a half a million yearly visitors. For more than 60 years, this festival has celebrated one of the world’s most beloved fruits and has made Florida the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World. Don’t miss their strawberry shortcake booths. There is an admission fee and concert tickets are extra.

Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards Annual Harvest Grape Stomp – Mid August

When was the last time you stomped grapes? Challenge family and friends to grape-stomping competitions. Enjoy live music by outstanding local musicians. Take a complimentary Winery tour, and indulge in Lakeridge wine, beer, soft drinks and a variety of food. This event is great for the whole family because there is also a bouncy house and a rock climbing wall for kids. Admission for adults over 12 is $10. A portion of the gate proceeds go to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lake and Sumter Counties.

St. Augustine Distillery Sugar Cane Harvest Festival – December

During this sweet festival, you can help harvest and sample the sugar cane. Enjoy delicious dishes made by local restaurants and artisans. Take a free tour of the distillery where you’ll learn about the history of ice and distilling in Florida, and watch as they mix, mash, cook and distill small batch vodka, rum, gin and whiskey in a historically renovated ice manufacturing plant from 1917. Yes, St. Augustine is a bit of a drive from your villa but it has great measures of history (The oldest city in the US) and an abundance of charm. Can do as a day trip…and well worth it.

Mount Dora Blueberry Festival – Late April

This delicious festival is held along the shores of Lake Dora with over 100 vendors, kids activities, pie-eating contests, craft blueberry beer and wine tasting, live entertainment and more. Get there early and enjoy a fresh pancake breakfast. Like St. Augustine, Mount Dora is a very charming town with excellent antique shops, clothing boutiques and a variety of restaurants. Worth a visit for sure. It’s an easy, relaxing and beautiful day trip from your luxury vacation villa. Admission is free.
